Documentary Family Shoot: The Tses

ocumentary family shoots - i just love them. From the perspective of your eyes, I gather this post is a little different from me....however, the truth is, I have been doing these kind of family sessions since 2009 when a rather unique thinking lady asked if I would do it for her family. Since then, I have adored just being invited into a family's home for a day, and just quietly and candidly documenting their regular ins and outs. There's just something very special about capturing real day -to-day moments of you with your spouse and little one(s) doing your usual thing.... I know it goes against the regular and against the expected for family shoots, but this stems from what I'd want if I was ever a mother - that is, an album made up of real-life, real-moments of how we lived and loved together, inclusive of not only the joys and laughter, but also the tantrums and tears. I'm not a mother, but I know if I was, I'd appreciate and love both sides to be preserved in photos to be remembered later on when memories tend to become grey and foggy. And to dot this at the end, I personally love all photos in these sessions to be in b&w - there is a beautiful storytelling nature to the look of these photos when retained in this form.... Hope you can see what I mean! :D
So, here are the Tses :) I feel like I have come full circle with this shoot. Angela and Wayne were one of the very very first JSP couples. They took a chance on me when I was a complete newbie in the industry, and it is so precious to be able to reunite with them 5 years later to see how they have grown, and also meet their gorgeous little girl Lexie (whom I fell in love with that day!! She really takes after her parents fun, high energy nature, and is overall a very happy little baby :D ). Thank you so much Wayne and Angela for inviting me into your home that day - and thank you Wayne for making me that cup of coffee - your barista skills are pretty cool and this coffeesnob gives you two thumbs up - thoroughly enjoyed my cuppa!) :D
Hope these images find a little place in your hearts, and I hope they become a piece in your journey as a family unit, to look back on with fondness and smiles :)
Much love,

Anniversary Shoot: Amy and Harry 10 Years

ello friends!! It's ridiculously busy lately....However, as part of my goal to keep this blog active, even during the busiest times for me, here I am with a new post for the new year :)
I love anniversary shoots... I'm not sure what it is about them, but photographing people who have been married has a greater sense of calm and depth to it. Pre-wedding/engagement shoots are beautiful and gorgeous, and I still highly recommend people do one to commemorate that special time in your lives, but having an anniversary shoot to me personally is even more special because it celebrates how love has matured, deepened, and solidified through life's ups and downs together :)
Having done my own with Ju last year to celebrate our 5th anniversary (you can have a look {HERE}, it was photographed by my absolute favourite, Jose Villa), I really believe in photos of marriage after the wedding... because you don't really understand the depth and meaning of love, sacrifice, and your vows til they have been tested by time, life, trials, tribulations and joys together. So, getting to do Amy and Harry's 10th (woohoo!!) anniversary shoot was so very special... If you guys don't already know, Amy and Harry, make up the Amy Chan Hair and Makeup Artistry team and are one of my absolute favourites to go to for amazing hair/makeup... They have made so many of my brides gorgeous for their shoots, so it was such an honor to be able to give back these frames to them :) They even brought along their beautiful little girl for part of the shoot :)
Thank you Amy and Harry for asking me to document these for you... you know so many photographers who are so incredibly talented, so this was an absolute honor that I cannot put into words.... Hope these frames remind you over the years of your love for each other, and help you to remember to celebrate love, life, and family in both the good and hard times together :)
Much love :)
ps: Thank you to the amazing Elaine from Butterfly Philosophy for styling their shoot with the beautiful props and ESPECIALLY those GORGEOUS flowers!! :D

Music Cover Shoot: Jayesslee Studio Sessions

This post was supposed to go up over the weekend, but I got hammered by some bug, so hopefully the wait is worth it for these photos :) Because, I'm SO excited to share this with you today!! As you know, our gorgeous friends, Janice and Sonia of musical duo Jayesslee have launched their debut album, titled, "Studio Sessions" which is basically a collection of some of their most popular covers, along with some original material recorded in the studio.
So, we were just THRILLED when they asked if we could shoot some photos for the release :D We spent the day indoors (and thankfully we did, as it rained like there was no tomorrow on the shoot day) creating some fun sets (styled by our very own team! :D ) that each say a little something about the musical twins. We hope you enjoy the photos that have come out of this sweet project!
To my lovely team members, David (thanks for bringing your better half along too!) and Vincy, thank you for your incredible help that day. It wouldn't have been the same without you :D
Now off you go to iTunes, and support these talented girls, who have taken the world by storm, by heading over here to get those tracks to your collections!
And on a VERY last note - there is some BONUS material for those of you who scroll down to the bottom of the post!! :)
ps: Please do not take/re-edit/re-post/re-use these images without credit to Jenny Sun Photography and Jayesslee. Stealing makes us sad.
Thank you so much and see you next post!! :)
Yay to those of you who made it this far down the post!! Here is the bonus Jayesslee material we were talking about! A few months ago, my team and I had the amazing privilege to record and document the girls LIVE in Sydney when they were performing. We'll keep the remainder of the show and photos for another time (hopefully soon!!), but for now, here is a snippet of what we recorded!! Enjoy :) And I highly recommend catching these girls live whenever you can - they sound even better LIVE than they do on youtube :)
